Tourism is ruining what makes New Zealand special, report says [Stuff, 18/12/19]

New Zealand may have to limit the number of tourists visiting our shores, or risk losing the idyllic environment that draws people here.

That’s the message from parliamentary commissioner for the environment Simon Upton, who says tourism is “eroding the very attributes that make New Zealand such an attractive country to visit”.

A new report from Upton makes it clear tourism cannot continue to grow – the country must find ways to limit it.
